Winemaker Notes

Pet Nat Griddële is a lively and refreshing sparkling rosé crafted using the ancestral method (méthode ancestrale) which involves bottling the wine before the primary fermentation is complete, allowing natural carbonation to develop. This unfiltered and unclarified wine showcases the vibrant character of Aglianico del Vulture grapes, offering bright fruit flavors and natural effervescence. Prior to serving, it's recommended to gently invert the bottle to mix the natural sediments, enhancing the wine's complexity. Serve chilled at 8-10°C (46-50°F).

The Story

In the ancient cellar of the Paternoster family in Melfi, Basilicata, a remarkable project named Arteteke was born, spearheaded by Francesco Bagnale and Alessandro Bocchetti. Francesco, serving as the president of AIAS Melfi-Matera—an association dedicated to supporting families of individuals with disabilities—collaborated with Alessandro to establish a farm centered on inclusivity. Their mission focuses on providing meaningful work opportunities for young people with developmental challenges, particularly those with underdeveloped motor and cognitive skills. The name "Arteteke" derives from the local dialect, describing the restlessness of children who cannot sit still, symbolizing the dynamic energy and movement they aim to foster.

The farm's vineyards are home to ungrafted vines of indigenous Vulture grape varieties, with a significant emphasis on Aglianico. The grapes harvested from this inclusive farm are transformed into a variety of wines under the Arteteke label. Notably, the label features the Bramea, a rare butterfly endemic to the Vulture region and the last of its kind in Europe, serving as a poignant reminder of the importance of progress and forward movement.

Pet Nat Griddële 2023 exemplifies the project's dedication to natural winemaking and social responsibility. This naturally sparkling rosé captures the essence of the Aglianico del Vulture grape, offering wine enthusiasts not only a delightful sensory experience but also a story of community, inclusivity, and the celebration of unique regional biodiversity.

*Note: This wine is unclarified and unfiltered, meaning you'll see some of the natural yeasts in the bottle. Lightly turn the bottle upside down to gently mix the sediment before serving.*
