Winemaker Notes
Erpacrife comes from a vineyard at 550 meters above sea level in Madonna di Como, a fraction of Alba, which rests on sandstones with high planting density and low guyot cultivation: Nebbiolo is usually harvested a month earlier than its more famous version, in red. After the second fermentation, in April of the following year, it rests in the bottle on the lees for at least 48 months; after disgorgement another six months in glass before being put on the market.
The Story
From a friendship born between the counters of the Alba wine school to a company that has revived sparkling wines from indigenous Piedmontese vines. This is the story of Erpacrife, a union of intentions, stories and friends. Erik, Paolo, Cristian, Federico grew up in their respective family cellars, but as soon as they came of age, in 2000, they decided to get involved with their own name, indeed, with the first syllable of their name, starting from a bet: the Sparkling Nebbiolo.
From the school and from just 500 bottles of the first label, today Erpacrife has made school and is a structured reality. New ideas were born and, from these, new labels. The boys have grown up, but the friendship and the desire to experiment have always remained the same.
