Winemaker Notes

The name comes from one of the best cru in the Serralunga d'Alba. An area particularly suited to Nebbiolo,
it offers solid, intense, fragrant and persistent Barolo wines. Barolo "Ornato" shows a garnet ruby red colour. Elegant on the nose, which delicately releases fruity and floral notes, enriched with nuances tending towards rhubarb and sweet spices. In the mouth shows great structure, lively, powerful and austere, of excellent persistence. A great expressive and territorial Barolo. Fermentation in steel; aging 24 months in large oak barrels

The Story

Palladino is a family-run winery, located in Serralunga d’Alba, in the heart of one of the most suitable terroirs for viticulture in all of Piedmont, the famous Langhe. The vineyards extend over an area of 11 hectares, scattered within different denominations of Langhe. Among these, the parcels within the DOCG of Barolo production stand out in importance, such as San Bernardo, Parafada, Ornato and, of course, Serralunga d'Alba. The grapes are primarily Nebbiolo, along with other regional varieties such as Barbera, Dolcetto, Moscato, Cortese and Arneis. The subsoil is characterized by a layer composed of clay and limestone, typical of this part of Piedmont. Both in the vineyard and in the cellar, the aim is to enhance the individual characteristics of each parcel, trying to obtain grapes of the highest quality during a process in which the hand of man is limited to giving voice to what he has already achieved from nature during the vintage.

Being one of the few women winemakers, Veronica has had to fight to prove herself in Barolo, even to her partners who are both male, including her uncle. But what she has achieved with the wines even Maurilio, her uncle, will say is nothing short of amazing.

Like most of the great artisans in Barolo, Palladino agrees that wines should be able to stand the test of time but also not have to wait to be drunk.
