Winemaker Notes

Granazza is one of the native grapes that have been recovered in Sardinia, and gives its best in the Mamoiada area. The vine plants are located at approximately 650 meters above sea level on a soil mainly composed of granite which provides a strong character to the final product. The manual harvest is carried out in the second half of September. In the cellar, spontaneous alcoholic fermentation is triggered with indigenous yeasts only and the must macerates for a few days on the skins. Refines for 4 months in the bottle.

The Story

For years, the work of the vineyards concentrated mainly in Baduorane has been a family affair. The estate has approximately one hectare of Cannonau vines with an average age of 12 years, one hectare of Granatza vines with an average age of 10 years and a new 3-year-old plant. In the vineyard they try to diversify production by working autonomously with the fruits of the 9-year-old Mulinu and Sa Lahana estates which have various characteristics different from each other. Always dedicated to the sale of bulk wine, the company began bottling in 2019, dedicating the first label to Mertzeoro, or Melchior, one of the Three Kings who brought gold as a gift to Jesus.
This name represents the preciousness of the wine and takes its name from its creator, Melchiorre Paddeu.
