A Sustainable Wine Shipment via Sailboat
We are revolutionizing the way wine is shipped with our third shipment
across the Atlantic Ocean with Grain de Sail.
On April 5, 2025, a sailboat will depart from Saint-Malo, France, carrying a selection of Roscioli Wine Club’s finest bottles across the Atlantic. In approximately 20 days, it will reach the port of Brooklyn, NYC, marking the third time Roscioli has partnered with Grain de Sail to ship wine sustainably via wind power.
A Commitment to a New Way of Thinking
At Roscioli, we believe in supporting revolutionary projects like Grain de Sail, a company proving that sustainable shipping is not just an idea—it’s a viable alternative. While we are aware that this initiative currently represents only a small portion of our total shipments, we see it as an essential step toward change. Our goal is to introduce this forward-thinking approach to our customers, help it grow, and ultimately expand the volume of bottles transported by sailboat.
This philosophy aligns perfectly with the ethos of our winemakers—artisans who cultivate their vineyards organically or biodynamically, minimizing intervention to preserve soil health and working to rediscover and safeguard native grape varieties in each region. Just as they dedicate themselves to preserving biodiversity and tradition, we are committed to exploring sustainable solutions in every aspect of our work.
How to Support This Initiative
You can choose from three exclusive six-bottle wine selections, available for pre-order starting April 5, 2025, on shop.roscioliwineclub.com. Orders will be shipped after the sailboat arrives in New York at the end of April.

Roscioli Essentials
A curated selection of six, ready to drink wines perfect for Spring, from trusted producers we’ve worked with for years. This collection reflects the essence of our winemaking philosophy: quality, craftsmanship, and respect for the land.

BACK TO THE BOOT
A wine selection celebrating the journey home. This 6 bottles collection brings together wines from Southern Italy — Campania, Calabria, Sicily, and Puglia — the very regions from which millions of Italians once left in search of the American dream.

THE ITALO-FRENCH WINE JOURNEY
A premium six-bottle selection that celebrates the partnership between Roscioli Wine Club and Grain de Sail, uniting France and Italy in a journey across the Atlantic and celebrating two countries with centuries of wine heritage.

Why Ship via Sailboat? A Few Key Facts
A sailboat takes 21 days to cross the Atlantic, just 10 days more than a traditional cargo ship. However, while standard shipments can be held in customs for 20+ days, Grain de Sail’s cargo is cleared in just a few days, making the overall lead time quicker.
Minimal fuel consumption—less than 3 gallons are used for a 5,000-mile journey.
Natural climate advantage—the northern sailing route provides ideal conditions for preserving the wine’s quality during transit (plus, the boat is outfitted with proper insulation for wine shipping)
Supporting a Greater Cause
Beyond sustainable shipping, we want to make a tangible impact by supporting Marevivo, an Italian non-profit organization protecting the sea and its biodiversity since 1985. Active on environmental, educational, scientific, and institutional fronts, Marevivo is committed to tackling major threats to our oceans—plastic pollution, climate change, overfishing, and the loss of marine ecosystems.
Through national campaigns, beach and seabed clean-ups, and educational programs aimed at younger generations, Marevivo works to promote a culture of environmental responsibility and a deeper awareness of our connection to the sea.
For each Roscioli Wine Club selection sold, $10 will be donated to Marevivo, helping to support their concrete actions to safeguard marine life.

I love this wine club. They just don’t send you some of the best quality wine out of Italy but procure some of the most unique from small wineries. The variety is fabulous with different grape varieties and vintner backgrounds. The education provided with each bottle is far superior than any other wine club I have been a member of. Getting my two shipments a year is always a highlight of the season!

Roscioli Wine Club and the entire Roscioli team are amazing! The club ships delicious Italian wines you cannot buy anywhere in the US, accompanied by complete tasting notes and videos, suggested food pairings and education about the local wine producers and terroir. They also throw in local treats like small batch olive oil & balsamic vinegars. All this at a very reasonable price too. Lindsay & Alessandro know their stuff when it comes to wine! Highly recommend.
